3 hours from Tokyo by train with one simple transfer
Seamless Travel Starts with the Shinkansen
From Tokyo, the Shinkansen will take you to Koriyama — the gateway to Aizu — in just 90 minutes.
Navigating Tokyo Station with heavy luggage can feel overwhelming, but once you’re on board, the journey becomes effortless. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a smooth, seamless ride all the way to your destination.
From Koriyama, you’ll transfer to a local train to continue your journey into Aizu. As the train passes through a series of tunnels, the landscape transforms — opening up to snow-covered scenery that builds a growing sense of anticipation.
There are also highway buses available from Tokyo, but if you’re travelling in Japan, the train is an experience not to be missed.
For most major hotels, you’ll arrive at Inawashiro Station, where a complimentary shuttle will take you the rest of the way. As you step out, you’ll be greeted by the majestic, snow-capped Mt. Bandai and a wide, open landscape unlike anywhere else.
Welcome to Aizu.

How to catch the first lift?
The Aizu region is a vast ski destination, home to six resorts, over 85 runs, and around 30 lifts in total. Some resorts are interconnected, while others are accessed by shuttle.
With the exception of a few key properties, most hotels are not ski-in/ski-out. If catching the first lift is a priority, we recommend choosing a ski-in/ski-out hotel. From most major accommodations, however, complimentary shuttle buses provide easy access to the slopes.
And here’s the good news — in Aizu, you don’t have to rush. As one of Japan’s last hidden powder destinations, there’s still plenty of fresh snow to be found, even if you start your day a little later.
